Our new foreign language assistant from London
Last week a young woman named Evie Watson visited our English class for the first time. We decided to interview her and she told us a lot about herself and some differences between England and Germany. So, her name is Evie Watson and she’s from London. She grew up in North-East London (Walthamstow) with her mom, dad and her older sister.
Right now she is in her third year of studying German and History. That is also the reason why she is here: She has to spend one year abroad, for which she chose Germany. During her first two years she studied in Sheffield, which is located near Manchester. She moved there after living in Walthamstow for her whole life.
Her favourite subjects at school were Drama and History. She also started learning German when she was only eleven years old, which is really impressive.
Evie’s hobbies are knitting, learning German and listening to music. She likes the music scene in South London a lot and that is also where her favourite band, “Black Country, New Road“ is from.
Besides this time, she has already been to Germany in the past, where she also noticed that Germany is cleaner and more environmentally friendly than England, because we have a deposit system (“Pfand“) for example.
During her time in Germany she also got some favourite foods like the German bread or falafel. In England, she prefers baked beans and tea.
She likes Cologne and Berlin the most in Germany and also has the dream of seeing America, especially Chicago. That is all about Evie, the student from London. She will be our foreign language assistant until the end of February and we look forward to our next English lessons with her.
